Two Castles - Pevensey Levels

This walk starts at the Tudor castle in Herstmonceux, and follows the 1066 Country Walk across the Pevensey Levels. The levels are a site of special scientific interest and is home to many rare plants. Passing through the hamlet of Rickney we reach the town of Pevensey. Pevensey is home to a railway station, a couple of pubs and its own castle, this one dating back to the Roman era

The walk is along flat ground, but may be a bit wet under foot and is 8.5km/5.5miles in length.

Although the bus driver will be familiar with the route and will walk with the group, the walk is not a guided walk.  Walkers are responsible for their own navigation and welfare and are free to walk a different route if they choose.  Although we will do our best to make sure everyone has a thoroughly good time, neither the bus driver nor The Big Lemon take any responsibility for the wellbeing of walkers whilst on the walk.
