The walk starts in Amberley at the halfway point of the South Downs Way, a 100 mile national trail that spans the length of the spectacular South Downs, from Winchester - the ancient capital of England - in the west, to Eastbourne and the white cliffs of Beachy Head in the east. This is the first of seven walks that we will be doing in 2017, spanning the eastern half of the South Downs, England's newest National Park.
Once on top of the Downs we will head eastwards through the unique downland environment that makes this part of the world so special. Home to an incredible array of wildflowers and many species of butterflies, the South Downs has some of the most diverse flora and fauna in the country.
Although the bus driver will be familiar with the route and will walk with the group, the walk is not a guided walk. Walkers are responsible for their own navigation and welfare and are free to walk a different route if they choose. Although we will do our best to make sure everyone has a thoroughly good time, neither the bus driver nor The Big Lemon take any responsibility for the wellbeing of walkers whilst on the walk.
